Industrial Process Steam (IndustrialProcessSteam)

Class: IndustrialProcessSteam | Module: energysim.models.loads | Validation benchmarks | Units

Overview

Industrial process steam demand header for refineries and chemical plants.

Quasi-static: demand = setpoint (>= 0), deficit = max(0, demand - supply), thermal demand = demand x enthalpy. No header pressure dynamics.

Parameters

Parameter Type Default Unit Description
name str 'SteamHeader' - Unique component name identifier
nominal_demand_t_hr float 100.0 t/h Nominal process steam demand
enthalpy_kj_kg float 2800.0 kJ/kg -
step_size float 1.0 s -

Inputs

Variable Unit Description
steam_supply_t_hr t/h -
demand_setpoint_t_hr t/h -

Outputs

Variable Unit Description
steam_demand_t_hr t/h Process steam demand
steam_deficit_t_hr t/h Unmet steam demand
Q_demand_MW_th MW Thermal power equivalent of the steam demand

Validity and notes

Validity: quasi-static demand header; no pressure, temperature or condensate-return dynamics; constant specific enthalpy.

Usage example

from energysim import world
from energysim.models import IndustrialProcessSteam

sim = world(start_time=0, stop_time=3600, t_macro=900)
sim.add_model('industrialprocesssteam', model=IndustrialProcessSteam(), outputs=['steam_demand_t_hr', 'steam_deficit_t_hr', 'Q_demand_MW_th'], step_size=60)
res = sim.simulate()
print(res['industrialprocesssteam'].tail(2))
