CHP Steam Turbine (CHP_SteamTurbine)

Class: CHP_SteamTurbine | Module: energysim.models.thermal | Validation benchmarks | Units

Overview

Combined Heat and Power (CHP) extraction steam turbine, simple correlation.

This is a correlation, not a thermodynamic turbine model: base electrical power is taken as 1 MW per kg/s of live steam (capped at p_max_mw), delivered heat is limited to twice the base power, and extraction reduces electrical output by beta MW per MW of heat extracted (P = P_base - beta * Q). No pressure levels, enthalpy drop, condensing tail or part-load efficiency are modelled.

Validity: steam flow 0-p_max_mw kg/s, heat demand <= 2 x base power.

Usage example

from energysim import world
from energysim.models import CHP_SteamTurbine

sim = world(start_time=0, stop_time=3600, t_macro=900)
sim.add_model('chp_steamturbine', model=CHP_SteamTurbine(), outputs=['P_actual', 'Q_heat_delivered_MW'], step_size=60)
res = sim.simulate()
print(res['chp_steamturbine'].tail(2))
